Iago Senén Fernández García (professionally, Senén F.) is a photographer, classical pianist, and aerospace engineer from A Coruña, Spain.
He began playing the piano at age six. Studying under Irina Moryatova, he received the Extraordinary End of Career Award and later graduated with Honours from the Superior Conservatory of Music of A Coruña. Scholarships from the Spanish Ministry of Education, the Diputación de A Coruña, and the Galician Symphonic Orchestra Consortium supported his studies abroad, and in 2018 he completed a Master's degree in the Netherlands under Belgian pianist Katia Veekmans, performing Ravel's Concerto in G under Henk Guittart for his final recital. He made his orchestral debut in 2016, performing Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with conductor Fernando Briones after winning the Soloist Competition, and was later selected for the XVI Masterclass for Soloists of the Eutherpe Foundation at the City of León Auditorium, where he performed the Ravel Piano concerto in G under emerging conductor Celia Llácer.
Photography appeared as an escape route while he was studying in the Netherlands. Living among other performers, he started portraying fellow musicians, and the work grew from there. His approach is cinematic and fine-art in spirit, blending dramatic off-camera lighting with context-aware storytelling — painterly images built on crisp textures and desaturated palettes. His work has since been recognised at the Prix de la Photographie Paris, the Siena International Photo Awards, and the US International Photography Awards, and received the gold medal at Perpignan Photo Culture. His images have been published in music magazines in Spain and the United States — including the front cover of Opera Actual, and have as well appeared on the covers of classical CD recordings.
In an unexpected turn of events in 2018, after watching the synchronized side-booster landing of the Falcon Heavy test flight, he decided to take part in the changes underway in the aerospace industry. He earned his Bachelor's in Aerospace Engineering from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), co-founded the aerospace association SAETA UC3M, and worked as a data scientist along the way. As of 2026 he is completing his Master's at UC3M, with a minor in aerospace vehicles, working at the intersection of aerospace, data science, and artificial intelligence.
Senén still plays piano (mostly chamber music) and still photographs emerging musicians and other artists. Photography remains something he does in his own time, and he takes on a small number of exclusive portrait commissions each year.
